10 Supporting Actors Who Stole The Show

best supporting actors

There comes an acting performance once in a good while that completely captivates anyone who views it. It doesn’t matter if the character is good, bad, nice looking, or ugly; the acting is simply out of this world and no matter who’s on the screen at that time, you can’t keep your eyes off that one actor. It’s an act of cinematic thievery, and it’s awesome.

These are the 10 greatest occurances of this from supporting performances that steal the entire show.

10. Douglas Rain in 2001: A Space Odyssey

HAL 2001

Granted we never actually see Douglas Rain in person during the film, we hear his voice, and that’s all we need. Portraying the menacing computer, Hal 9000, Rain delivered a voice acting performance so calm and sociopathic, it creeps me out just thinking about it. “I’m afraid I can’t do that, Dave” still rings in my ears, clear as day, since I first saw the film.

9. Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects

TheUsualSuspects

Through a non-linear narrative and an ending so shocking you don’t want ANYONE to even remotely talk about it, otherwise they’ll spoil something, it’s hard to analyze this film completely without seeing it a few times. I’ve done just that (in fact, I’ve probably seen this film more times than I should), and I can easily say that, although Stephen Baldwin, Benecio del Toro, and Gabriel Byrne all light the screen up in their own ways, Kevin Spacey steals the spotlight with this film.
